FTP is a frequent method for uploading file to webserver.It makes uploading and organizing file very easy.You need a ftp client for uploading file.
Here are steps:-
Get FTP Client
For login to your ftp server you need a FTP client.
I often use Filezilla ftp client and it supports both ftp and ftps protocol.Filezilla is open source.it is available for most operating system platform like windows, Linux and Mac OS Download and install it.
you can get it from its official site.
Login to your web server and transfer files.
To login to Filezilla you need ftp login details.
ftp login details may have following information.
d. Port: 21 for ftp
Open FileZilla. you will see this interface.
Login to FTP server
Enter the ftp login details in the fields below and and click on Quickconnect Button. You will see connect will display just below the box you entered the login info.
Interface is divided into two parts
a. Local site: the files that displays here are at your local computer.
b. Remote site: the files that displays here are on your web server.
To transfer files from your computer to remote server(web server) you can either drag and drop the files and folders or just click on files or folder.
select Upload if you want transfer files from your computer to web server on left side files.
select Download if want to transfer files from web server to your computer on right hand side files.
You can track the files which has been transferred or in Queue for transfer and control the transfer in bottom section of FileZilla.
